10 Great Airport Tips for a Stress-Free Trip

Traveling is often a stressful experience, but it doesn’t have to be.

A little planning and preparation can go a long way and make your aiport experience a breeze.

Bellow you will find 10 essential airport tips to help alleviate your stress while travelling and enjoy the process :

N01 – Arrive Early

It’s more or less a no brainer, especially if you are traveling internationnally or during peak travel times (christmas, thanksgiving, …).

Make sure to have plenty of time to go through security, check in, and make it to your gate with plenty of time to spare (you don’t want to arrive late at your gate and miss your flight).

N02 – Pack Smart

Before you head to the airport, make sure you’re packing smart.

Check the airline’s carry-on and checked baggage policies, and pack accordingly.

Do not pack items that are prohibited by security (or TSA if you’re in the US). To make sure you comply with rules and regulations check with your airline or directly on the airports website. If you’re still unsure if a specific item is allowed, you can always give a call to the airport.

Think about bringing a small bag that will contain all your essentials, such as your passport, boarding pass, and headphones. That you can easily pull out when you need access.

N03 – Wear Comfortable Clothing

Considering you’re going to be travelling for possibly a few hours you need to consider being comfortable before anything else. Opt for loose-fitting clothing that won’t restrict your movement, and wear shoes that are easy to take off and put back on during security checks (avoid for example high heels, high knee boots, …).

N04 – Stay Hydrated

Airplanes are dry environements and you could feel dehydrated, so it’s important to have access to water and stay hydrated during your trip.

Bring a refillable water bottle with you, keep it empty until you have passed security and fill it up once you’re passed security.

You could also purchase water once you’re past security, or ask for a cup of water from a café or restaurant. However, I’d suggest to bring you’re own refillable water bottle since airport prices can be quite steep and a water bottle can easily fetch 5 dollars.

N05 – Take Advantage of Technology

Today technology makes you’re experience as a traveller much smoother.

Download the airline’s app (when available) and keep track of your tickets and your flight updates. I’d recommend having a back up printed version of your ticket just in case you run out of battery.

Some airports also have their own apps to help you find you way around, places to eat or shop.

Bring a portable battery pack with you to keep your devices charges. Technology can make your airport experience a lot smoother.

N06 – Use TSA PreCheck or Global Entry

If you are a US citizen you could apply to TSA PreCheck.
Global Entry is available to US citizens and some foreigners as well.

These programs allow travelers to go through security faster and with fewer restrictions.

N07 – Be Prepared for Security

Airport security is not a fun experience but we all have to go through it. To make the process as smooth as possible, be prepared.

Make sure you have your boarding pass and ID ready, remove your liquids, electronics, and shoes before going through security.

If you’re traveling with liquids, make sure they’re in a clear bag.

N08 – Keep your Luggage Safe

When traveling you must keep and eye on your luggage at all times.

Using a luggage lock is a good idea to keep your bags secure.

If you’re checking a bag, make sure you can identify it easily at baggage claim (sticker, ribbon, …) and add a label tag.

N09 – Explore the Airport

Some airports are just stunning and have so much to offer. The aiport of Singapore is one of them.

If you have a layover or if your flight is delayed, take advantage of the time and explore the airport.

Most airports have lots of shops, restaurants and even lounges to enjoy. Some lounges don’t require you to be a member, however you will pay a fee for access. You can check before your trip the available lounges at the airport and make a reservation if you want.

N10 – Be Prepared for Delays

Delays are unfortunately part of travelling.

Bring plenty of entertainement with you just in case.

Bring a book, magazine, or tablet to keep you entertained, and bring snacks and water to keep you fueled.

If your flight is delayed, stay informed by checking the airline’s website, app, or by talking to a representative at the airport.

If you follow these tips, it could help make your travel experience more enjoyable and stress-free. From arriving early and packing smart to exploring the airport and being prepared for delays, these tips will help you navigate the airport with ease. So next time you travel, keep these tips in mind and enjoy your trip.
