If you’ve ever been to Italy chances are you’ve tried an almond biscotti. These biscuits are often served with coffee and can be enjoyed at breakfast of after dinner. In Italy, they can also be served at the end of a meal with a wine called vin santo.
These cookies are twice-baked, and have an oblong shape, originally from Italy they have become a beloved recipe on an international level.

Almond Biscotti Recipe
History of the Biscotti
The word “biscotti” comes from the Latin term “biscoctus,” which means “twice-cooked.”
Originally the biscotti was created for practical reasons, these cookies were designed to be long-lasting and durable, making these biscuits an ideal food/snack during journeys and battles.
INGREDIENTS
The ingredients required for this recipe are :
- Almonds
- Flour
- Orange
- Sugar
- Eggs
- Baking powder
- Honey
- Vanilla extract
- Vegetal Oil

STEP 1
Start by toasting the almonds in the oven at 200 degrees celsius for approximately 7 minutes. Once the almonds are toasted leave them aside to cool down.
STEP 2
In a mixing bowl whisk the egg and the sugar for approximately 3 min.
STEP 3
Add the orange zest, the orange juice, the honey, the vanilla extract and the vegetable oil and combine all the ingredients together.
STEP 4
Add the flour, the baking powder and the almonds. Mix everything well until the mixture reaches a “cookie dough” consistency.
STEP 5
Seperate the dough in two and create two logs.
STEP 6
Bake the logs a first time for 10 minutes at 200 degrees celsius.
STEP 7
Take the logs out of the oven and let them cool down for 10 minutes.
STEP 8
Cut the logs in slices of about 1.5 to 2 cm thick, and lay them on the baking tray on the side.
STEP 9
Bake the biscotti a second time for 10 minutes at 170 degrees celsius.
STEP 10
Wait for the biscotti to cool down and enjoy.

Ingredients
- 260 grams Flour
- 50 grams Almonds
- 7 grams Baking Powder
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 90 grams White sugar
- 1 Egg
- 80 ml Vegetable Oil (Avoid Olive oil the taste is too strong)
- 1 1/2 tbsp Orange juice
Instructions

- In a mixing bowl whisk the egg and the sugar for approximately 3 min.

- Add the flour, the baking powder and the almonds. Mix everything well until the mixture reaches a "cookie dough" consistency.
